The conversations among the Green Party and other progressive voices have shifted to the level of conspiracy surrounding the COVID-19 response and whether it should be classified as high as the JFK assassination or 9/11. Some progressives believe that this may be the most serious conspiracy in modern history, while others disagree. The "anti-vaxxer" conspiracy theories initially tried to point out that this was a massive form of psychosis that should be stopped immediately, but they were met with pushback from the mainstream media, who provided "fact-checks" and claimed that there was no evidence of a "mass formation psychosis" occurring during the pandemic. Every year on August 31st, the world celebrates the International Day for People of African Descent. The first time this day was commemorated in the world was on this date in 2021 via the United Nations. As mentioned on their website, “Through this Observance, the United Nations aims to promote the extraordinary contributions of the African diaspora around the world and to eliminate all forms of discrimination against people of African descent. On 19 June 2020, the Human Rights Council adopted the resolution on the ‘Promotion and protection of the human rights and fundamental freedoms of Africans and people of African descent against excessive use of force and other human rights violations by law enforcement officers.’ Pursuant to this resolution, the High Commissioner for Human Rights presented to the Human Rights Council at its 47th session her agenda towards transformative change for racial justice and equality.”  Thus, it is a reminder that even after chattel slavery was abolished in most countries in the world, Black people continued to globally suffer from racism, discrimination and segregation throughout generations even through today.   Continue reading

February 11th National Inventors Day Every year, Black History Month provides an opportunity for The Green Party of the United States to remember and honor the invaluable contributions African-Americans have made in this country. In fact, many modern conveniences and necessities are directly related to, or derivative of, the inventions of black inventors: blood banks, the refrigerator, the electric trolley, the dust pan, comb, mop, brush, clothes dryer, refrigerator, lawn mower, traffic signals, the pen and the pencil sharpener.
